Escalation trees that do not humiliate field partners
By Taeyang Oh
Escalation is a design problem. If every low score pings the CEO, nothing gets prioritized. We recommend tiered routing: store manager first, distributor supervisor second, brand trade lead third—with timers that respect Korean holiday calendars.
Copy matters. Replace “failure” with “off-spec” in automated notifications. Humans still read them.
Third, attach one annotated image per escalation, not a folder dump. Cognitive load drops and responses speed up.
Finally, log every escalation outcome even if it is “no change possible.” Those logs become training fodder and protect teams during tense quarterly reviews.
